NFL Flag Official League

Tuesday night we had our coaches meeting to discuss all the upcoming changes from our transition with DHop as well as how this season is going to run. We attempted to record in order to send this to you guys, however we are having some technical difficulties in doing so.

It went as follows:

Introduction of AZP as well as our board members: Bob Ferron and Vincent Gonzales. We will be roaming the fields at all locations, so feel free to check in and ask questions as needed.

Rosters are completed and have been distributed to all of the coaches, if there are any problems with the roster, be sure to reach out to Bob Ferron at [email protected].

Equipment has been ordered, if available we will bring to meet and greet, otherwise we may have to set up a Pick Up schedule.

Meet and Greet is Saturday 4/6 (Sunday 4/7 for Vail) for coaches to be able to meet their teams and hopefully distribute equipment which may or may not arrive. We will let you know if it does. Chandler and Queen Creek will start at 9, Vail starts at 10, and Tempe starts at 2.

Game locations:

Tempe: Tempe Sports Complex, however will be playing at Kiwanis Park on 4/13 and 4/20.

Chandler: Knox Gifted Academy

Queen Creek: Barney Elementary

Vail: Mica Mountain High School

Gameday times:

Tempe: Saturdays from 2:00-9:00 PM

Chandler: Saturdays from 9:00-4:00 PM

Queen Creek: Saturdays from 9:00-4:00 PM

Vail: Sundays from 9:00-4:00 PM

Coaches Etiquette: Remember coaches are in charge of their sidelines. Be the role model for not only your players, but also their families. Cooler heads prevail when tempers start to flare. Negative behavior on the sidelines will not be tolerated and the refs have been instructed to warn the coach, not the parents, that there will be penalties associated with this. So please, keep everyone under control.

Referees will remain the same as last season and will be trained on the new rules associated with AZP.

The biggest differences between AZP and DHOP:

Ball size is PeeWee for both 6U and 8U. Junior size for 10, 12, and 14U.

Kickoffs will be done each half, only the person who catches the ball may run. No blocking.

We will still start at the 5 yard line after every scoring drive.

6U is the only division that doesn’t recognize the No Run Zone or Rushing. All others must pass when 5 yards away from midfield and goal line and must line up 7 yards away from the LOS in order to blitz (send as many as you want as long as they are behind 7 yards).
